Skills worth sharing.
Workshop is our monthly in-store series celebrating practical skills, thoughtful making and the people who know their craft best.
Held on the third weekend of every month, Workshop invites makers, craftspeople and experts to share their knowledge through small, hands-on sessions at The Hub General Store.
From caring for timber furniture and sharpening knives to seasonal cooking, preserving, gardening and everyday home skills, every Workshop is designed to leave you with something useful to take home.
Places are intentionally limited to keep each session relaxed, conversational and practical.
Why we started Workshop
A good general store has always been more than a place to buy things.
It's a place to ask questions, exchange ideas and learn from people who have spent years refining their craft.
Workshop was created to bring that tradition back.
Rather than simply selling well-made products, we want to help you care for them, use them well and enjoy them for years to come. It's about slowing down, sharing knowledge and keeping practical skills alive.
We believe the best skills are shared. By bringing together makers and curious minds around one table each month, we're creating opportunities to learn, connect and leave with knowledge you'll use long after the afternoon is over.
What to expect
Every Workshop is different.
Some months you'll learn directly from the makers behind the products we stock. Other months we'll welcome skilled craftspeople, growers, cooks and specialists to share what they know.
Topics change throughout the year and may include furniture care, knife sharpening, seasonal cooking, preserving, gardening, table setting, flower arranging and other practical skills for everyday living.
Each session is intentionally small, allowing plenty of time for conversation, questions and hands-on learning.
When is it?
Workshop takes place on the third weekend of every month at The Hub General Store, with most sessions held on Sundays.
Session times, topics and ticket details vary depending on the workshop.
Bookings are essential, as places are intentionally limited.
Who is it for?
Workshop is for anyone who enjoys learning something new.
Whether you're picking up a skill for the first time, looking after something you already own or simply curious to hear from experienced makers, you'll find yourself in good company.
Come on your own, bring a friend or make an afternoon of it.
