The mechanism of the salt & pepper mill is made in high-tech ceramic. A clean, inactive, natural material that is ideal for grinding salt, spices and dried herbs. When a spice or herb is dried, it still contains the essential oils that carry its flavour and freshness.
However, when spice or herb is stored as a ground powder, these oils gradually evaporate and in a short space of time become a pale, weak version of the original spice or herb. By grinding spices and herbs just before use you release the essential oils and get the best flavour and taste.
