Lowe Furniture Walnut Chopping Board End Grain is a solid timber chopping board designed for serious kitchen work. The end grain construction provides a durable and forgiving surface for chopping, slicing, and carving, making it particularly well suited to regular use and sharp kitchen knives.
Made by Melbourne furniture maker Andrew Lowe, each board is crafted from carefully selected walnut, chosen for its rich colour, distinctive grain, and natural durability. End grain boards are constructed so the timber fibres stand vertically, allowing the knife edge to pass between them rather than across them. This helps reduce wear on both the board and the blade over time. The timber is air dried for up to two years, kiln dried for stability, then finished with a food safe blend of beeswax and citrus oil.
Walnut is prized for its deep tones and striking figure, ensuring every board carries its own unique character. With occasional oiling and proper care, it will continue to provide a reliable and hardworking surface for many years.
