Weekly Flowers at The Hub General Store.
Each week, we select a small run of flowers from the market, chosen in person on Thursday mornings. The bunch changes weekly and is always seasonal, fresh, and sourced locally.
This week’s bunch is pink carnations. We chose carnations because they are reliable, long lasting, and well suited to everyday living. As a cut flower, they hold their shape and colour far longer than many seasonal blooms, opening gradually rather than all at once.
When grown locally and picked in season, carnations arrive strong and resilient, making them good value and easy to live with over the course of the week. The soft pink variety sits comfortably in all homes, from kitchen benches to bedside tables.
Quantities are limited and change weekly, based on what is available at the market.
Shopkeeper tips for caring for carnations; Trim the stems on an angle before placing them in water to help the flowers drink properly. Change the water every two to three days and rinse the vase each time. Keep the bunch out of direct sun and away from heat to allow the flowers to open slowly and last longer.
